Kings Canyon to Alice Mereenie Loop

by Neil
(Victoria)

Hi, thought I'd share our trip report on the Mereenie Loop road of Kings Canyon to Alice Springs for other travellers.

Firstly it waives conflicting reports whether you have a permission or not need... We decided to buy a permit ($ 5.50) of Kings Canyon Resort Caltex station.

The street itself, no mistake. It is hard, very rough and Wellpappe.Der driver skill requires a reasonable level. 4 x 4 experience would be helpful. The ground shifting corrugated cardboard sand or rock from hard rocky surface smooth sand, then. Some areas of the Bulldust.

My advise to a reasonable speed, too slow, too fast halten.Reifendruck up to 26-28 PSI (very important to avoid punctures) how it helps traction and makes the journey a little better. For all of you, that in a rental vehicle to try it.Check the Ersatzreifens is ok.Otherwise, enjoy the spectacular Landschaft.Es is some of the most diverse in the world.

... Stay my advice in the Glen Helen resort... far from a Resort.Die toilets were dirty, not paper, staff not so freundlich.fahren a few more kilometers down the road to and stay Lagergeländes.Viel Ormiston Gorge or even better Ellery Creek big hole cheaper (national park fees) and better natural look simple but adequately equipped.

Enjoy the NT!
